The revealing of Tessa Virtue simply started with this summer’s magazine photos in her own black bathing suit and leaning over the handlebars of a kid’s bike in white short-shorts.

When she and ice dance partner Scott Moir were in Montreal Aug. 10 to lift the veil on their Olympic programs, so were the TV cameras recording the W Network’s six-part Tessa & Scott series that will preview their path to Sochi and attempt to defend their gold medal from Vancouver.

The 2014 Memorial Cup host London Knights aren’t the only team going under the “reality” TV microscope this season.

“They (the cameras) will be in Michigan with us (this week to film their day-to-day training) and it’s real exciting,” the 24-year-old Londoner said. “It just came across as a great opportunity this season, in particular, because it’s so important to us. Sometimes, I’m not even sure our family and friends know what it is we do when we leave for Canton to train every week.”

The skaters met one of the network’s producers at the Gemini Awards in 2010 and have done a series of stints and demos with this production team in the past.

“We got a chance to feel comfortable with the cameras around us and that gave us a good sense of what it would be like,” she said, “and we’ll get a feel for (the intrusiveness of the project) as things move forward.

“Obviously, it’s focused on our sport and our lives in skating but with that comes the pressures and the goings-on off the ice, too. I think it’ll be a balance. Hopefully, there will be enough entertaining things to keep people interested.”

Oh, that shouldn’t be a problem.

Virtue and Moir are part of figure skating’s best rivalry with American training mates Meryl Davis and Charlie White. The Canadians couldn’t beat their foes last season and lost the world championship at home at Budweiser Gardens in the spring.
